MANDEVILLE, NCU- The proposed re-branding of the Chapel weekend is the “USM Recharge”. The Spiritual Affairs sector seeks to aware attendees that this year’s Chapel Weekend is not just a combination the vesper service, Sabbath worship, Sunday night meeting and Monday Chapel; “The intention is for high spiritual experience to occur, for the USM to make a positive and lasting spiritual impact on campus life for this academic year to encourage Christian students in their walk with the Lord and for non-Christian students to be effectively ministered to ” said Harrone Guthrie, Vice President of Spiritual Affairs in the United Student Movement.
Guthrie hopes that the USM recharge will engage, equip and empower attendees to positively live a dynamic Christian life in this 21st century context. He told the Hilltop Trumpet that among the aims of the USM Recharge is to engage students in interactive, soul-stirring edifying sessions, to equip students with effective tools for victorious Christian living and to raise the spiritual profile of the USM emphasizing that spiritual advocacy is an integral part of the 2019/2020 regime.
“USM Recharge is being seen by the Spiritual Affairs sector as its culminating campus ministry activity for the Fall Semester and it is the intent that USM Recharge will speak to the spiritual needs of the Northern Caribbean University (NCU) students living in a 21st century context” said Guthrie. The proposed date of the USM recharge is November 15-18, 2019 with guest speaker Pastor Richard Martin, Senior Pastor at the New Life SDA Church in Hampton Virginia.
