The United Student Movement (USM) on Thursday issued a Press Release condemning the killing of University of Technology (UTech) Medical student Shanique Walters. The Movement described the killing as a senseless act and an attack on the youth of Jamaica. “We condemn the killing and believe that it was a senseless act on the part of unscrupulous persons. We unfortunately live in a society where the youth are being killed and denied the opportunity to live freely.”
In the Press Release the USM also extended condolences to the Family and University Family of Miss Walters and called for the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) to increase their presence in the areas where College/University students are located. Shanique Walters was shot dead by men who attempted to rob her and another female student on November 4th.
