Manchester High football team managed to break the stalemate in a high stakes match against Glenmuir as they seal their spot in the DaCosta Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday November 2. Manchester High striker Ajay Chin had fans breathing a sigh of relief after he scored a clinching goal in the 82nd minute to seal the victory against Glenmuir High School. Chin said he did not feel nervous and that he “knew he could take it home” for his team. Manchester High beat Glenmuir High 2-1 at Manchester High School Football Field in Mandeville.
Glenmuir’s 19 year old captain, Jevaughn Ennis, gave his team the lead in the 27th minute of the first half. However, the boys in maroon and gold made a comeback in the 39th minute of the second half.
Assistant coach of the Manchester football team, Adrian Reeves expressed optimism as the team progresses to the quarter-finals.
Speaking to NCU Sports last evening, Mr. Reeves said that the final goal showed the resilience of his team as they strove to play aggressively throughout the match. When asked about their mood progressing to the next round, Mr. Reeves said that “Most definitely we are confident going into the next match. We have seen Cornwall play so we know what they can do”. DaCosta Cup action continues this afternoon as Denbigh High School plays against Glenmuir High School.
