Petora Baker is seeking your help for her 1 year 7 months old baby Nazario Smith., who suffers from brain damage.
Little Nazario suffers from cerebral palsy . ‘Cerebral palsy (CP) is a disorder that affects muscle tone, movement, and motor skills (the ability to move in a coordinated and purposeful way). CP is usually caused by brain damage that occurs before or during a child’s birth, or during the first 3 to 5 years of a child’s life.’The brain damage that leads to cerebral palsy can also lead to other health issues, including vision, hearing, and speech problems, and learning disabilities.
“It kills me to know that Narzario will never be a normal baby. He can’t walk, talk, see, sit up or even chew his own food. But I’ve learnt to accept him,” said Baker.
Nazario’s condition cannot be corrected via surgery; it’s physiotherapy that will help to make this baby boy’s life a bit easier in the future. “I just want Nazario to be able to do something for himself, If it’s even to sit up and chew. I am willing to accept any change.
Baker explained that with each visit to the doctor, the journey gets harder, but its prayer that gives her strength and the courage to keep going as she cares for little Nazario. “People tell mi fi dash him weh and leave him at the hospital. One lady even said ‘the next time doctor admit him nuh go back fi him’. But I know it’s because they have no hope. I’ve seen changes when I pray for my baby. Because it’s prayer that has helped with his sight,” said Baker.
Baker’s challenge is when she sees her son sick or when he’s hungry and she knows she’s unable to help him. But we all have the chance on March 14 to ‘MAKE IT HAPPEN’. Support the concert that will at the gymnatorium at 7:00PM. Come out and see performances by Jermaine Edwards, Kevin Downswell, Judith Gayle, Hands of Praise Extension and many more. Let’s all support the concert as we aim to make it a beautiful day for little Nazario Smith.
