FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: USM President Condemns the Attacks on Northern Caribbean University Students

|United Student Movement

On behalf of the USM, I am empathizing with the victims, who had to endure this ordeal. This Administration stands ready to lend our support to them (victims), as they are members of our
family.
I am condemning tonight’s gruesome attack on two of our students. The incident speaks of the callous and indurate manner of criminals in our society. This monster of crime is destabilizing as
it seeks to restrict and impede the progress of law-abiding citizens. This shows that criminals will exhaust every possible means to unleash their brutal and cold-blooded attack on anyone.

These culprits must be accosted and brought forward to feel the full brunt of the law. I am using this platform to appeal to the Police High Command to conduct regular patrols during peak hours
(5pm to 10pm), as a means of protecting and serving the community and our students. I am calling again for a Mobile Station to be domicile in the area to curtail this monster that seeks to
cripple the progress of our university.

Finally, I want our parliamentary and local representatives to implement social intervention initiatives along with sustainable plans to eradicate this plague in the community. The United
Student Movement will continue to engage the University Administration, Jamaica Union of Tertiary Students (JUTS) and other partners, to meet the demands and safeguard the security of
the students we were elected to serve.

Kavion J. Allen
(President)
