Member of Parliament (MP) for East Portland, Dr. Lynvale Bloomfield was found dead in his home after suffering from multiple stab wounds on the morning of February 2, 2019.

Dr.  Bloomfield, was a two-term MP of the Peoples National Party (PNP) winning on his first attempt on December 2011 and again in 2016

Shortly after his death, a statement was released by Dr. Peter Philip’s, Opposition leader and President of the PNP. He stated that members of the party along with the entire Jamaica  was “shocked, shaken and saddened by the news of the tragic death”.

The police’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) has yet to provide any details surrounding the death of Dr. Bloomfield at this time.
