Anybody Can Win It!

Northern Caribbean University (NCU) students remain in high competitive spirits as the university’s annual sports day arrives.
On Tuesday, March 5 the NCU Oval will be infested with shades of yellow, blue, green and red as the university students take to the field to represent their various sporting houses.
This year, there is a notably high tension among the students because of the closeness of the point standing going into sports day. The Beaumont Lions sit at the top of the table with 346 points – only 9 points clear of the second-placed Brodie Polar Bears that have 337 points. The defending champions Fletcher occupies the 3rd place position with 316 points just 7 points clear of the Chisolm Hawks who have 309 pints. These points were accumulated through the pre-sports day activities inclusive of basketball, football and the cross country race.
“There is really no telling of who will win sports day because of how closely placed the houses are to each other. All houses have a good chance to capture the title” said one student after surveying the points table.
USM Male Sports Director, Kayson Duncan said that he likes the intense atmosphere surrounding the 2019 sports day activities. Saying the students seem very eager to compete in various events. When asked how this year’s sports day will be different from previous ones, Duncan mentioned the inclusion of the 4x200m relay. This will be the first time that this event is included in the list of events at NCU Sports day.
The 2019 Sports day activities will see current champions Fletcher try to retain their title for the fourth successive time.
