Over 300,000 USD Raised in Scholarships for Students says NCU President

Mandeville-Jamaica- President of the Northern Caribbean University (NCU) Dr Lincoln Edwards has announced that over 300,000 USD has been raised to provide scholarships for students enrolled at the university.
He made this announcement during the university’s annual President’s Convocation on Thursday, September 24, 2020, that was hosted virtually on the institution’s main campus in Mandeville.
Dr Edwards shared that the Alumni Federation has raised in excess of 300,000 USD to provide scholarships for NCU students.
“Dr Stanley James has donated 2,000 US dollars to the RESCUE program which is desperately in need of funds due to overwhelming needs it is addressing. Our Orlando chapter donated 4,000 US dollars for scholarships and Dr and Mrs Whitford-Shaw have donated 10,000 USD to provide scholarships for students in Theology and Education.”
He also announced new donations made to the university by its alumni and allies to assist with physical aspects of the university.
“Our alumni and friends have reaffirmed their commitment to our institutions and to the students even during this pandemic. The Inga and Whitford Reid Foundation have donated 20,000 USD to support research at NCU and the Atlantic Union has donated $20,000 USD to improve the esthetics of Cedar Hall.”
He also added that Dr Milton Morris has donated twenty $29,000 US dollars to assist NCU and also to purchase equipment for the Department of Communication Studies.
Meanwhile, Dr Edwards added that five sewing machines were donated to the university’s Vocational Empowerment and Educational Training Institute.
The President’s Convocation was held under the theme, ‘‘Empowered by God, Equipped to Forge the New Normal.’
