10 Men Brown’s Town defeat NCU

The Brown’s Town Community College grabbed a 1-0 victory from Northern Caribbean University(NCU), in their Intercollegiate  Division 2 Football competition at NCU on Monday.

The first half saw NCU continuously pressing the left flank of the visitors but their attempts on goal were denied by the Brown’s Town keeper. The visiting side was left to rely on the defensive errors of their opponents before they could get a shot on goal.

“We fell down in attack, and keeping the ball as NCU had more possession”, said Constantine Cunningham, coach of the Brown’s Town Community College.

NCU had a clear scoring opportunity after the ball rebounded off the left goal post and landed in the clear path of Shane Dawson. However, the chance was blundered when Thompson fired a miss-kick which added to the series of comedic mishaps; sending the crowd in a frenzy.

Tensions lifted on the field when a Brown’s Town player was issued with a red card in the 40th minute for what seemed to be a deliberate foul on an NCU player, leaving them with a man short.

NCU continued applying pressure in the second half when Thompson was substituted for Damani  Plumber but the Brown’s Town defense stood firm against the tactical changes and substitutions.

The deadlock was broken in the 70th minute when the Brown’s Town goalkeeper served a clearance pass that landed on the foot of the striker, Javion Brown, who bypassed sloppy defending to score the lone goal of the match.

“The team played good, but it was one mistake that lead to defeat”, said Christopher Dunn, coach of the NCU team.

NCU prepares to host Mico University College on Friday.
